Al‐Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has released the 12th issue of its magazine, Sada al‐Malahem, which includes an article titled “The Huthis: Rafidites with a Zaidi Mask.” In the article, the author discusses the history of Zaidism on the Arabian Peninsula and especially in Yemen, and its eventual mutation that was “true in word but empty in intention” under al‐Huthi. Connecting the Huthis to Iranian interests in the region, the author asserts that “with enormous Iranian funds sent to Huthis, they have purchased weapons and secretly prepared trenches.” The author alleges that “the Shiites are America’s alternative for the rulers in the region. The alliance of the rafidites with the Americans is something only a fool would deny.” The author also writes, “the real cause of the fighting between the Yemeni and Saudi regimes and the Huthis was made clear previously: it is a battle of interests. It is an Iranian‐Gulf struggle in which the cover of sect is used to achieve a greater Persian state, as some Iranian clerics have acknowledged.”

The NEFA Foundation has obtained a transcript of a new communication from Yemeni-American cleric Shaykh Anwar al-Awlaki titled “Western Jihad is Here to Stay.” In the message, al-Awlaki stated, “The Jihad movement has not only survived but is expanding. Isn't it ironic that the two capitals of the war against Islam, Washington D.C. and London have also become among the centers of Western Jihad? Jihad is becoming as American as apple pie and as British as afternoon tea..” He added, “The US has spent billions to protect its airlines but they couldn't prevent Umar Farouk [Abdulmutallab], and the West has been profiling until ‘Jihad Jane’, shattered whatever trust was left in the value of profiling. A blond, blue-eyed, small framed, middle-aged female. It couldn't get any further from your typical ‘terrorist’ profile.”

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has released the 12th issue of its magazine, Sada al-Malahem, which includes an article titled "Nidal’s Project in the Resistance". The article discusses the November 5, 2009 attack at Fort Hood by U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan. According to AQAP, “The individual jihad model that Nidal represents is suitable for the upcoming period as security measures are being tightened. The individual operation is harder to discover and easier to execute.” AQAP also criticizes American Muslim organizations, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim Public Affairs Council, for their “commentary on the works of the mujahideen.” AQAP counsels that “Muslims in the West are faced with two choices, either to migrate from there or wage jihad within."
