Shabaab al-Mujahideen: “Message of Congratulations, Thanks, and Appreciation”

On February 23, 2012, Shabaab al-Mujahideen’s Al-Kataib Foundation for Media Production released a statement of appreciation “on this joyous occasion and awaited glad tidings” of the union (Bay’aat) of Shabaab and Al-Qaida. After congratulating the “beloved Islamic Ummah,” the statement thanked: Al Qaida’s As-Sahab Media Foundation “for excelling in standing in the Jihad media trench”; its “brothers in the Global Islamic Media Front” for their enduring support; and the “hidden soldiers in our pioneering Jihadist forums.” The message concluded with an assurance that Shabaab intends to carry “onward on the promise of Shaykh Usama bin Laden” through its new union with Al-Qaida.
