TTP Releases Eid Message from Hakimullah Mehsud

On September 3, 2011, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) released an official Eid message from TTP leader Hakimullah Mehsud. Mehsud stated, "We the Mujahideen vow to continue our Jihad, following in the footsteps of martyrs of Islam, till we achieve our objective – either Shariah or Shahadah (martyrdom)." In May 2011, Flashpoint announced that it had obtained an exclusive videotaped interview with Mehsud. In July 2010, Flashpoint released a previously unpublished video excerpt of a meeting between Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad and Mehsud. In the video clip, the two were shown shaking hands and hugging. Mehsud has been charged in U.S. federal court in connection with the CIA Camp Chapman attack, and the U.S. State Department is offering a $5 million reward for tips leading to his location.
