Islamic State of Iraq Threat to Christian Sects and Churches in Iraq

Written by Administrator Friday, 24 December 2010 10:19

On December 22, 2010, the Islamic State of Iraq’s (ISI) Ministry of War released a communication directed at Christian sects and churches in Iraq. Referencing the October 2010 siege of the Sayedat al-Najah church in al-Karrada, the ISI threatened, “it has become very clear to us, undoubtedly, that you have read the message in the wrong way, and you acted based on misestimating. And you ignored dealing with the real side…the matter concerns. And you were blind towards the demands of the Mujahideen—and they are real and just demands—and you blinded your followers from these demands, and this will cost you very highly.” The ISI added that it “refuse[s] humiliation and we do not accept suppression, and we sacrifice our blood for the cause of Allah and in support of our Muslim brothers. And you should not be tricked by the promises of security from those who can’t protect themselves, as he who doesn’t have something cannot give it. And take cautious that the governance of Islam would return to be on these grounds while you are at war with the Muslims.”
