Abu_Saad_al-TunisiOn August 25, 2010, the Al-Ma’sada Foundation released an interview with the mother of Abu Sa’ad al-Tunisi, a Tunisian who migrated to Europe, only to die fighting with the Islamic State of Iraq. His mother remarked that on “the first day of our entrance into Europe”, al-Tunisi asked her and his father, “what did we come to do in this country?” With no mosque in their area, he had to walk “more than an hour to pray” enforcing “in his heart a feeling of estrangement, especially due to the presence of collusions and many desires.” Then, “during his final days, life had opened for him and presented him with many offers like education, work and marriage but he preferred the eternal [life] rather than the mortal one.” Commenting on his decision to travel to Iraq, al-Tunisi’s mother “praise[d] Allah…that He facilitated for my son to transfer from hunting birds and fish to hunting the Shiite dogs and American pigs.” She urged other young men in Europe to “let the love of Jihad be more than your love for life and Europe” and to “take off…and be aware that Allah is with you.”
