On April 13, 2010, the al‐Balagh Media Center published an interview with Sirajuddin Haqqani, in which he praised the “hero, the mujahid for the cause of Allah, Abu Dujanah al‐Khorasani”, who carried out a suicide bombing attack at a CIA base in Afghanistan on December 30, 2009. He urged the “the jihadist internet networks” to “raise their level and organize themselves more,” though he did not note that these networks “are honorable and respectable and truthfully they are providing a great service.” He also counseled that supporters “with money and the ones with expertise in the fields of explosives, electronics, communications, counter‐spying networks, and destroying the energies of the enemy, and the people with the pens for poetry and literature and thoughts must counter the rumors and claims of the crusade enemy and carry out their responsibilities in this matter…” The U.S. government is currently offering a $5 million reward for Haqqani’s capture and has stated, “Sirajuddin Haqqani, a senior leader of the Haqqani terrorist network founded by his father Jalaladin Haqqani, maintains close ties to al‐Qa’ida. During an interview with an American news organization, Haqqani admitted planning the January 14, 2008 attack against the Serena Hotel in Kabul that killed six people, including American citizen Thor David Hesla. Haqqani also admitted to having planned the April 2008 assassination attempt on Afghan President Hamid Karzai. He has coordinated and participated in cross‐border attacks against U.S. and Coalition forces in Afghanistan.”
