well organized ambushes that we laid for you... But we
pledge to go all the way without surrender so that you
will meet the same fate as [former head of the Iraqi

The Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq has
issued a new communiqué claiming responsibility for car
bombing attacks on July 18 targeting Iraqi police
facilities in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.
According to Iraqi security sources, booby-trapped
vehicles and suicide car bombs exploded at the Albu-Ajil
police station and at a checkpoint in front of the
police training academy in Tikrit. The attacks killed
two policemen, wounded five others, and caused extensive
damage to nearby buildings and vehicles. |

Fallujans Reveal Alleged Targeting Devices used in U.S.
Airstrikes
Militants in Fallujah, Iraq
have published photos of what they claim to be
electronic guidance devices used by the U.S. military to
direct recent air raids on rebel safehouses in the city.
The source claimed that these devices had been seized
from "traitor agents" who were captured while travelling
in an Opel sedan through Fallujah. On July 23, a U.S.
precision airstrike conducted in coordination with the
Iraqi government targeted a group of 10 to 12
"terrorists" outside a house in Fallujah. The men were
alleged to be linked to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. |

responsibility for a letter released last week in the

The Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq has
released a new statement taking credit for a car-bombing
at an Iraqi National Guard check-point in the city of
Baqubah, north of Baghdad. The bomb, which went off at
approximately 2:30pm on Tuesday, killed as many as six
Iraqi National Guard volunteers and wounded six others.
Last week, a similar suicide attack in Baqubah outside
an Iraqi police recruiting center killed 70 people.

issued a new statement taking credit for a suicide car
bombing at a police station in the town of Al-Mahawel,
approximately 75 km south of the capital Baghdad. At
8:35am on August 5, a minibus loaded with explosives
detonated outside the police complex shortly after an
exchange of fire with unidentified militants. The
attack, which occurred far south of Ansar al-Sunnah's
traditional area of operations, resulted in the deaths
of at least six Iraqi policemen and wounded 24 others.

Nepalese workers on contract in Iraq. A Nepalese

an Iraqi civilian and wounded at least nineteen others,
including four American soldiers. Zarqawi's group
has also taken credit for a pair of suicide bombings on
Sept. 23 targeting security forces in the capital of
Baghdad. At least 21 Iraqis were killed in the attacks
and over 150 others were injured (including four U.S.
soldiers). The victims included recruits for the army
and dozens of innocent bystanders.

suicide car bombing outside the Al-Karkh police
recruiting center on Haifa Street in the capital
Baghdad. The explosion, outside the main entrance to the
al-Karkh police station (and adjacent to a school and a
coffee shop), killed over 47 bystanders. The Haifa St.
area is reputed as a "bastion" for Iraq's militant Sunni
resistance. |

New Video: "The Voice of Jihad from Iraq"
Unidentified Islamic militants
in central Iraq have released the second part of a video
series known as "The Voice of Jihad from Iraq." The
video depicts the fabrication of improvised explosive
devices (including the use of metal fragments as
shrapnel), training exercises with shoulder-launched
Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) launchers, planning
meetings for future ambushes, and a roadside bombing
attack on a U.S. tank. No recognized insurgent group has
taken credit for the video. |

Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Car Bombing in Arbil
The Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq has
taken credit for a December 12 car bombing in the
province of Arbil in far northern Iraqi Kurdistan,
targeting one of the leaders of the Kurdish Democratic
Party (KDP). The attackers placed four rocket-propelled
grenades (RPGs) in the mule vehicle, but only one of
them exploded when detonated. The bomb, aimed at KDP
official Amin Najjar, wounded two bystanders but failed
to hit its primary target. |

Iraqi Group Claims Murder of Two
Americans
An Iraqi militant group calling itself
Saraya al-Jihad al-Islami has claimed responsibility for
the murder of two U.S. contractors in Iraq on December
8, 2004 near Taji--Joseph James Wemple and Dale Stoffel.
In a new video released on the Internet, masked fighters
read a statement announcing the operation that killed
the two men, described as "two members of the Pentagon
and the CIA." The footage from the video also depicts
various photos and official documents belonging to the
two men. |

Attacks in Ninewah and Mosul
Several new purported communiqués have
been released by units of the Al-Mustafa Battalion from
the Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq. The statements--which
were not released through Ansar al-Sunnah's official
website nor its media representative Abu Jihad al-Kurdi--take
credit for the kidnapping of a local council member from
the province of Ninewah and for a rocket attack on a
U.S. base near the city of Mosul.

Bio of Algerian Militant Recently Killed in Iraq
Alleged veterans from the jihad in Iraq
have published the biography of an Algerian national
recently killed during combat operations in Iraq. "Abu
Hafs" the Algerian was 23 years old at the time of his
death and known to be alongside other foreign mujahideen
units. He was reportedly killed by U.S. attack
helicopters after a botched attempt to free other
insurgents being held by coalition forces at an
undisclosed location. |

How-To Video Released for Suicide Bomb Vests
Islamic militants on the Internet have
released a full length instructional video explaining
the fabrication and use of suicide bomb vests. Similar
devices deployed in conflict zones from Palestine to
Iraq have caused devastating civilian casualties when
deployed in constricted urban settings. A sample vest is
shown detonating in close quarters to suggested
representations of human targets. |

Army Claims Deadly Mosul Attack
The Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq has
taken responsibility for a deadly attack on a cafeteria
at a joint U.S.-Iraqi base in the restive city of Mosul.
The statement--which referred to the attack as a
"martyrdom operation" (i.e. suicide bombing)--conflicted
with initial U.S. military reports of a rocket or mortar
impact. Between December 16-20, Ansar al-Sunnah claimed
responsibility for multiple Katyusha rocket and Hound
mortar attacks on the same U.S. base in Mosul. On
December 19, another purported communiqué from Ansar al-Sunnah
warned the public to expect "additional videotaped
operations in the coming few days."
