Al-Qaida's Jihad in
Europe: The Afghan-Bosnian Network
"About [Al-Qaida's]
operations in Europe, Evan F. Kohlmann has written an illuminating
book... Kohlmann is at his best in exhaustively reporting the
details of such terrorist episodes. He has compiled prodigious
research about the perpetrators and their support networks.
Moreover, he never loses sight of the strategy behind the individual
attacks... [a] genuine historical analysis."
- Political Science Quarterly (PSQ)
"This book is a
pathbreaking piece of research… Kohlmann addresses the issue in
unprecedented detail, exploiting a wide variety of available sources
to piece together a largely neglected segment of contemporary
Bosnian history… [which] provide critical insights into terrorist
preferences, motives, and interests… The book… is descriptive and
empirically rich."
- Studies in Conflict and Terrorism
"Written by a genuine
expert in the subject... this is a lucid and informed account of the
involvement of the mujahedin in Bosnia, one that lays the myths to
rest... This excellent book is essential reading for anyone wishing
to understand the truth about an episode of the Bosnian war that is
so frequently misrepresented by those with a political motive for
doing so."

History Faculty, University of Cambridge

New Audiotape from Al-Qaida Leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
Al-Jazeera has broadcast a new audio
recording attributed to senior Al-Qaida deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri.
The tape calls upon young Muslims, “Don’t wait for the
American, British, French, South Korean, Hungarian and
Polish forces to enter Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula,
Yemen and Algeria to start the resistance... We should
start the resistance from now... The interests of the
Americans [and their allies] are everywhere." |

Adam Gadahn's Voice Matched to Al-Qaida Video on 9/11
Hijackers
The voice of an alleged American Al-Qaida
terrorist operative featured in a video broadcast last
week has been matched to audio taken from a previous As-Sahab
video production documenting the planning behind the
September 11, 2001 suicide hijackings. During the latter
video from November 2001, "Azzam al-Amriki" applauds the
mission of the 9/11 hijackers to "destroy the economic
fortresses" of America. |

U.K. Terror Suspect Threatens Dirty Bombs in U.S.
A new report is now available for download from
Globalterroralert.com profiling Al-Qaida operative Abu
Musab al-Suri (a.k.a. Mustafa Setmariam Nasar), rumored
as a possible culprit in last week's deadly terror
bombings in central London. In December 2004, al-Suri
issued a statement on the Internet explaining, "if I had
been consulted about [the September 11] operation, I
would have advised them to select aircraft on
international flights and to have put weapons of mass
destruction aboard them... now that the American
administration has revealed the evil and wickedness of
its forces... it is not a far cry from justice to adopt
the slogan, ‘Dirty Bombs for a Dirty Nation’... Let the
American people—those who voted for killing,
destruction, the looting of other nations’ wealth,
megalomania, and the desire to control others—be
contaminated with radiation!"

A Chilling Final Threat from Abu Musab al-Suri
Abu al-Tawab al-Shami--the official spokesman of most
wanted Al-Qaida terrorist training camp manager Abu
Musab al-Suri (a.k.a. Omar Abdel Hakim, Mustafa
Setmariam Nasar)--has confirmed the latter's capture by
coalition forces sometime in September 2005, and has
also made available a final audio message from Abu Musab
responding to the July 2005 London bombings. During the
recording, Abu Musab denied having played any
significant role in recent terrorist attacks in
Europe--but conceded to having trained American and
British nationals at Al-Qaida camps in Afghanistan and
further ordered his supporters "to act quickly and
strike Britain, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Japan,
Australia, Russia, France... They must either strike the
territory of these countries or targets that are outside
of their borders. O’ sleeper cells, wake up now!" |

Excerpts from Zawahiri's Latest Audio Recording
On January 18, credible Al-Qaida chat forums on the
Internet began to announce that Al-Qaida’s As-Sahab
Media Wing was due to release a new audio recording of
Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri. Yesterday afternoon, these chat
forums posted copies of a 17-minute long recording by
Zawahiri extolling the “martyrs” of the Egyptian Islamic
Jihad Movement. Zawahiri concludes by reading a lengthy
poem originally conceived by a mujahideen Mullah in
Afghanistan. Although the voice on the audio is almost
certainly that of Zawahiri, it is unclear how recently
the speech was actually recorded. |

American
Greases Al-Qaida Media Machine
Al-Qaida has
dramatically increased its media presence over the last
year, capped off recently by a flurry of highly polished
video and audio messages from fugitive leaders Osama bin
Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri. But it is the videotaped
rants of
a
27-year-old American terrorist named Adam Gadahn
that offer the most intriguing clues about the mechanics
of al-Qaida’s propaganda machine and the sort of
individual the shadowy terror organization is seeking to
recruit.

9/11 Suicide Wills: "Eid al-Fitr at Tarnak Farms"
In late 2001 or
early 2002, the U.S. government was able to recover a
video recording from a suspected Al-Qaida facility in
Afghanistan. The video includes meetings of an elite
gathering of top Al-Qaida leaders——including Usama Bin
Laden; Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s reported successor at
the head of Al-Qaida’s international terrorist
operations, Abu Faraj al-Liby; 9/11 organizer Ramzi Bin
al-Shibh; and 9/11 hijackers Mohammed Atta and Ziad
Jarrah. |
